"What does it mean to be an artist?
Can art be of consequence  if its pursuit is not also a commitment to raising difficult truths?  Can there be meaningful art without a willingness to risk one's significance?
Is the mere living of life not an art form, wherever there is sacrifice and a striving towards integrity? 

It seems to me that the search for meaning  in my work as an artist is no more nor less than a  desire  for  the expression of empathy and  humility, rooted in the  connection I experience  with all sentient life;  and that  I share  this search with all those who seek to risk their significance, whatever their medium of expression".
